holiday in the park... texas style

so we decided to take advantage of one last holiday in the park in our old neighborhood before moving downtown. they make a snow hill for the kids to sled down, have lunch and cookies, and a santa. it was actually chilly this day, which was nice. we picked up a pool raft from my in-laws house to sled with. it turned out to be super slow.
fortunately, the girls ran into a little friend from preschool who shared his board with them until russell came back with... trash can lids. these worked pretty well. for those of us in houston who rarely see a good snow, it was a fun filled afternoon of sledding. even sam took a turn. the majority of the time though, he scooted himself down the grass on his bottom pretending to sled like the girls.

i'm not the only one crazy about this one. our good friend becca had to get a hold of him too.
even our neighbors joined in the fun. even though moving at slow raft speed they were having a blast.
the scoot sledding down the grass..
even when he got a little ahead of himself and fell face forward, he just rolled over smiling. this kid continues to amaze me.
and tomorrow.... we are moving in to our new house! holla! can't wait to decorate amidst the boxes while listening to white christmas and baking goodies with the girls.
