it is hot here in houston. and it has been a very dry summer. the girls have been wanting to go to kemah for a while now, but during the day it is just too darn hot. so, we decided to take them on a date with mommy and daddy the other evening and left sam with don don and pappy. we had a great time. first we ate an early dinner at saltgrass. tasty.
after this we rode a bunch of rides. it was their first time on a ferris wheel. they could see all the boats out in the gulf and were excited about how little all of the people looked from up high. the difference in my girls on rides... emma kept wanting to stand up and lean over to look out, and abby wanted to be in a lap with hands around her waist. on the plane ride, emma wanted to do it by herself, and abby sitting next to me. on the carousel, emma rode herself, and abby wanted to sit on the bench with me. in this pic we were managing to keep emma reigned in to daddy's lap.
after the plane ride. there is video footage of me having to put my head in my hands. somewhere in junior high i became unable to really enjoy rides anymore. particularly the ones that spin or swing. yes, that includes rides where you must be 36" to ride. i was a little queasy after this one.
face painting. they love it! emma got what was supposed to be a fairy. complete with glitter and a sparkly jewel. and abby a purple butterfly.
after this we went to get ice cream and then put on swimsuits and they played in the water while russ and i watched listening to a live band. they have one of those areas with water that shoots up out of little holes in random places and random times. they had a wonderful time and so did we. got them in bed around 10:30 after picking up little man. worth the late bedtime.
on another note, sam got his first tooth sunday! bottom left. "he's growing up" the girls say.
