it was fun prepping for their party this year. i did a couple homemade cakes and poured their favorite candy in the center to brighten it up. the banners were just card stock, twine, and bamboo sticks to hang them off.
venue of choice was wonderwild, the same as last year. loads of fun for the kids and easy for us.
made a photobooth backdrop this year with props for the kids to hold. go to oh happy day to get the how to for multiple great photo booths, as well as the downloads for these props.
i thoroughly enjoyed cutting circles. multiple pretty colors and mindless, therapeutic cutting was fun in my book. odd that i enjoyed it so much? possibly. had i to do it again, i might have gone with just one color scheme.. like multiple shades of yellows and golds, maybe throw in some glitter paper. the problem was i couldn't just do purples (abby's favorite) or pinks (emma's favorite). i suppose the rainbow of colors is more fun to kids anyhow.
what i didn't enjoy was the rotary cutter to the foam board. maybe it was my particular cutting tool, but it was a long, frazzled process where things were just choppy. i enlisted help from my beautiful friend ashley who does all things creative and crafty. of course it took her half the time and hers were entirely smooth and flawless. that's what friends are for right? no, that's not right. but it is a bonus.
tissue paper confetti filled balloons. so much prettier than regular balloons and super easy. just punch circles from a bunch of wrapping tissue paper, fold them in half, and then in half again. stick them in your clear balloon, then blow up with helium and bam - confetti balloons!
things got real cute when the boys had gotten their party favors, which came with fake mustaches. hilarious.
i feel as if i'm looking into the future.
