so my husband is truly gifted in playing the piano. it's almost like it is an extension of his fingers. whatever he hears, he can play. and he hears his own music in his head and plays that as well. i can read sheet music, but only to a certain level. i stopped lessons in junior high and never progressed much beyond that. hearing him play is one of the most beautiful sounds i can hear on this earth.
russell's parents bought him a petite baby grand piano at the end of high school.
when i fell in love with him in college, i used to sit and listen to him play any chance i could.
during our dating months i'd sit next to him for hours.
he asked me to marry him on the bench of his piano.
i remember him composing a lullaby for the girls when they were babies sleeping in the same bassinet. we would roll it over by the piano room so they could listen.
when we moved downtown christmas of 2012, there was no way the piano could fit. so we have not heard him play on a regular basis for a year and a half.
suddenly it occured to him a couple of weeks ago that we should start looking for a piano from the era that fits the style of our home (the 50-60's), and sell his other one.
after only a couple of days of searching we found this beauty waiting in san antonio. the previous owner had grown up listening to his father play and compose music on it. when russ told him that he did the same the man was thankful it was coming into our home.
and so our house is filled with piano music again. everybody loves it. of the kids particularly miss emma is interested. she turns the pages as if she is reading music and plays away at her songs that she has composed. abby mostly likes to dance to russell playing. and sam just likes to interrupt and frustrate his sisters.
i'm so thankful.

What a wonderful gift you have there! JR plays the piano as well, but we have never owned one. I hope the kiddos enjoy it as much as you two!
hey lady... they enjoy it, just got to stop the fighting about who plays when. :)
