today you, today i (samuel)

today you woke up early. and at 6:15 i brought you into bed with us where you were content to hit your daddy in the back and occasionally say "mama" through your paci in your mouth for approximately ten minutes. today i got up with you, instead of asking your sweet daddy to give me a bit more rest. today we had a precious forty five minutes of reading (glancing at a book for five seconds), high stepping (where you walk around smiling stomping your leg down), and babbling. i love your precious babbling. nonsensical words that you put together to what i know is a sentence in your mind which i absolutely cannot understand. at sixteen months you have the cutest little vocabulary.

today when you saw your sister emma come in the kitchen, you pointed at her and went to give her a hug. you love your sisters. today you wouldn't eat your fruit with breakfast.. again. you seem to be rejecting all the fruit you used to enjoy. today i giggled at how you picked up the food with your chubby little hands and dropped it off your tray. today you played peak-a-boo with your sisters on the way to their preschool, and clapped with me to the music.

today you started to hold out your hand to me, and when i grab it, you take my hand and lead me where you want to go. sometimes you say "mama" when you do this, and my heart overflows with love for you. today i am so in love with the Lord for His goodness. for this gift of you.

today i cherished your snuggles and sweet smiles as you tucked your head to my chest. your smiles are a light to everyone. today you got just as excited as always to see your daddy when he got home from work, and you ran around the house squealing as he and abby chased you around the house. today i thought how quickly you are growing up, but was able to be in the present and fully enjoy this sweet stage that you are in.

today and everyday, i love you my sweet samuel.
