the ballet

on thursday night i took emma and abby to go see my niece ashton's ballet. we got all dressed up for a girls night out. they wanted to watch me decide what i was going to wear. when abby saw my dress she said,

"oh mom! i've been dreaming about this one my whole life."

she said it with such dramatic enthusiasm. it was adorable.

they even put on some lipgloss of mine, which was a big hit. we went to pick out flowers for ashton beforehand. during the ballet when emma was on my lap, she looked back at me and said, "this is even better than a movie!" it was a special night.

here are the girls with their cousins ryan and dylan, and great grandparents nannie and papaw. 

i know the last one is a complete blur but it was the only one i had of the girls with ashton.

i got to spend my birthday with my husband bringing me breakfast in bed, my parents surprising us and taking us to lunch, my friends ashley and amy surprising me at the house with cupcakes and flowers, and a date night with my girls. i had a great birthday.

then last night russell took me out to celebrate. i like this whole birthday thing when i'm a little older with kids. it kind of lasts all week because you just celebrate when you can, which often spreads out. like tonight my in-laws are taking us to dinner downtown. lots of food. lots of sweets. thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!
