ice cream man

the ice cream man. i remember getting excited when i was a little girl playing outside and heard the song from down the street. that familiar little tune coming from a small loud speaker on top of his car. all of the pictures of character ice creams, orange push pops, ice cream sandwiches, drumsticks. o sweet tasty delight. on a hot summer day hearing the music brought joy to many a little heart.

and now my girls get that same giddy excitement. here in houston we hear him year round. even in the winter we heard him in our neighborhood. one time i flagged him down from our house a few hundred yards away when he was on a cross street. my girls still talk about it every time we hear him how i waved my arms and went running to get him to not miss us. oh yes, i will work hard to provide ice cream for them. i will jump and yell and wave my arms to make sure they don't miss out on that memory. it is a good one. dripping mess while playing in the water. the epitomy of childhood fun. on this particular february day it was already rather hot, so the girls were perfectly comfortable eating them outside. abby chose this time a pink panther, and emma a dora the explorer. notice only one eye is still surviving in one of the pics.

also wonderful... sam reaching and grabbing. i think that bird is trying to say something to me. my husband says he is thinking, "is this all life has to offer me". however, i'm always pretty happy with those cute little chubby hands grabbing me.
