Canyon Lake

A couple of weekends ago we took a vacation with Russell's family to Canyon Lake. It is a beautiful man-made lake outside of New Braunfels. The bottom of the lake is white rock, so the water looks blue-green like the ocean. The girls went on their first trip with their 5 cousins. We had a pontoon boat rented and spent the first day out on the lake. Abby is on the left in this picture. They handled having the life jackets on for approximately ten minutes before getting a little upset about them. Who wouldn't really when they start to go up over your face and you can't hardly breathe.

After the lake, we went in to Gruene to eat at the Gristmill overlooking the Guadalupe.  I have gone with my family since I was a little girl to New Braunfels and we always went to Gruene and ate at the Gristmill. Russ had been to Canyon Lake with his family for years and they also would always eat there. I thought it was neat --- a tradition we will want to continue with our girls. There are so many great memories of floating the river and spending family time there.
