the most important day

saturday was the most important day of emma and abby's life.
and it was one of the best days of mine.
russell had taken sam on an errand, and the girls and i were here together.
i was hand sewing abby's stuffed ariel doll's crown back on her head. the girls were coloring.
abby: "is God inside us?"
emma: "is God everywhere?"
me: "yes He is everywhere. and He sends His Holy Spirit, the Helper, to live inside us if we believe in His Son Jesus, that He came to save us, died for our sins, and rose again to beat death."
emma: "we do believe that!"
me: "then you can just tell that to God and ask Him, and He will send the Holy Spirit to live inside you."
abby: "will you help me?"
emma: "me too?"
they repeated this simple prayer of child-like faith...
God, thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. thank you for saving us. will you send your Holy Spirit to live inside of me, and help me to be more like Jesus? thank you. i love you. amen.
me: "mommy is crying happy tears. (as i got teary) do you know what?! the angels are cheering and rejoicing right now. do you know why?"
girls shaking their heads and smiling...
me: "because you trust in Jesus. in the Bible it says that the angels rejoice when a little one comes to Him. they are having a party for you! you know what else? you will live forever in heaven with all of us who love and believe in Jesus. and now you have the Holy Spirit inside you to help you. like when you get angry or frustrated. you can ask Him to help you."

already this has been so good. in two days i have been able to lead them to ask the Holy Spirit to help them in frustrating situations, and i've watched them do so and calm down.
bless the Lord o my soul. o my soul. worship His holy name.
thank you Father. help me to disciple my children. help me to have faith You hold them. that You have begun a good work, and will be faithful to complete it.

this blog is a journal for me in a lot of ways. immediately i went and wrote this down on a scrap piece of paper, so that i would document it. i'm all about remembering. and having others remember. one day i hope that my girls can read back on this and know that this was a beautiful miracle that i rejoiced with them in.
