louisiana wedding

i haven't been to louisiana much. driven through on the way to florida. been to lake charles with russ a couple of times. but this past weekend we went to a wedding in a small town off the beaten path. it was beautiful. beautiful drive. beautiful green grass and plantation homes. amazing huge trees singing loudly of God's creation.
it was, however, a lot of time in the car for mama and the kids. four and a half hours there, changed in a walmart ten minutes before rehearsal. forty minute drive to and from the hotel three times. four and a half hours back at 6 in the morning to make it in time for their last soccer game.
while russ was with the groomsmen on saturday playing golf, i took all three to the hotel pool. we stayed only about an hour as i could only take so much of samuel trying to run around me to jump in the pool yelling, "ca ball!" translation cannonball. the girls were doing this excitedly and he promptly laughed and tried to join in. minor problem is that he would just sink to the bottom. so i spent a lot of time playing defense in the pool catching him as he tried to trot past me.
the wanting to be like sisters and yelling of ca ball was precious. the potential for drowning was not. so we moved to attempting a nap in the hotel room. why? why would i ever do that mom?
no idea why i hoped.
the wedding was beautiful (only spent half of it outside with the kids) and the reception was georgeous. outside by a lake down a hill with lights everywhere and a wonderful live band. so much fun. the kids loved it. got a little dancing out of sam, but he spent the majority of the night sitting with his pappy clapping after each song watching the dancing. he zoned out around 9 and made it till i left with the kids at 10:30 where they all crashed in the car.
the girls danced the night away. the kids did amazing considering how much i asked of them. i broke down once giving ab a healthy spanking for the attitude she likes to dole out to me sometimes, and cried to russ on the way to the reception. once we got out i recovered and was able to stop the drama and enjoy being a family dancing and having fun.
