dance class

my niece ashton does ballet on pointe. emma and abby are always and forever talking about or doing their own versions of ballet and dancing in any form really. they have been wanting to do ballet for like a year now. so, the other day i realized we should check into it and thought i might be too late. i called two days before the first class started and was able to register them both, take them out on a date to get leotards and shoes, and go get some frozen yogurt. it was a fun date and they were full of excitement. it's so fun and also emotional for me. i have pictures from my first recital with my dad. i remember the costume. and now i'm taking them to class. they had a blast. any time i looked in on them they were full of smiles. at their age it's a combination class, so they do tap too. abby's face when she touched the ground with those tap shoes on for the first time was priceless.

i did not realize they were supposed to have dance bags to put their shoes in on the first day. so, i decided to make the girls some that would hold both shoes, and a stuffed bunny and giraffe. i asked the girls fabric preferences (out of a small selection that i was good with), and they are really happy with them. the inside of emma's is a pattern of pinks, and abby's is a pattern with mostly purple.
